Swearing & Cursing / Hugo Talks

Is swearing and cursing a sin? Are you cursing yourself everytime you indulge in unwholesome talk?

  1. That’s a good talk!

    I would add something else:
substituting “f**king for effing”, makes no difference. Even the very example of censored spelling I’ve used above. Same with exclaiming Gosh instead of God for the sake of not uttering his name in vain.
All euphemism is an absurd, the meaning implied is what matters.
Furthermore, you can offend people if you are eloquent enough without the use of obscene language…

  2. Good chat Hugo. Think most of us, say the odd swear word, especially when I’ve jammed my finger in the door or such like. However, I hate it when people constantly swear. I’ve always thought that they are incapable of using a non swear word because they haven’t got the intelligence to think of one, so quite easy to shove in swear words to make your point. Also thought it strange a lot of people can control it when perhaps talking to their parents or children etc …
Can’t listen to movies that are constantly effing and ceeing, every other word, it’s revolting, there is no need for it.

  3. Thank you dear Hugo. I used to swear a lot for ‘effect’ . I used to think it had more effect in making my feelings or a joke more dramatic… until one day it suddenly occurred that I might be offending people and making a fool of myself . The power of the tongue is very real, it can break bones and start wars.
Thank you for the fantastic music, never get bored, any new ones coming out?
The Gen Z video was spot on again, could totally relate.

  4. Same journey here, still trying to “catch” that initial anger and turn it around. Not sure where I’ll be by the time of the big reveal, still work in progress.

A person that springs to mind for me is Jeremy Clarkson. He would tear apart the biggest corporation in the World with one eloquent sentence (“hmm, I quite like the door mirrors” springs to mind), then one day he said something negative about a Tesla, presumably got a tap on the shoulder from the beast and now he’s reduced to saying “F***” a lot on a farming programme.

  5. You are never wasting your time Hugo, these subjects are incredibly important. I remember the abusive foul words i heard from my father, they would disturb me. AND I would not repeat them. I was around 13-14 yrs old and bad stuff happened to me Alhough, I FELT I HAD SOMETHING INSIDE trying to keep me wholesome and good. I think it was my R.E. teacher who first told me that swearing was used by wrong thinking individuals that could not articulate their words or other communication in a positive way so they used profanities to try to be BIG or STRONG in their speaking. It kind of made sense to me. Only today I told a taxi driver to “WATCH HIS MOUTH as a lady was present” , when he used the F word outside my local shop. He did not know where to put his shameful face and went away without another word. There really is no need for it… The younger generation are becoming normalised with this kind of foul talk. Thankyou for the video, as always greatly appreciated 👏🏻
God’s love, peace and blessings to all ♥️🙏🏻
