  3. Thank you so much Hugo for posting this video…its like you read my mind. I’ve been asking God for guidance regarding ( water) baptism and your video has given me faith that I’m doing just fine walking without being baptised with water as an adult. Blessings to you for all your work. God is definitely using you Hugo as a spokesman for his Word.

    • Water baptism in itself does not save us. I do believe that when possible it is necessary as an outward sign that we are no longer part of the world. Dead to sin and the world and alive in Christ. I also believe it is a sign to the enemy that we are no longer his but belong to Christ.
It is an action of dying being buried and raising to new life in Christ. Jesus had no need to be baptised as he was sinless, yet, he did so as an example to us. If it was important to the Father Son and Holy Spirit (all 3 present at Jesus’s baptism,) then it should be as important to us.

God wants to cleanse us as we turn away from our sins (Luke 3:3). He wants us to produce fruit in keeping with that repentance (Luke 3:7-9). Baptism is an important step in our journey with Him.

      Blessings.

  4. Hey Hugo, thanks for this video and some really good points in there that water baptism, doesn’t save, is only an outward / symbolic sign of inward faith and the Holy Spirit already received.

Although I think it would be more accurate to say false teaching on baptism muddies the water, not water baptism in and of itself.

We are commanded to be baptised (Matthew 28:19) and we should want to as well, following the pattern Jesus Himself set (Matthew 4). Wee this with the eunuch in Acts 8, after he believes – he wants to be baptised.

I would also say that baptism shouldn’t be into a denomination, although some do – but it’s not something I would generalise to all water baptisms. I wouldn’t say someone doubts their faith after being baptised either, UNLESS they have false teaching on it.

On denominations, there are people that have different views but this shouldn’t divide. I don’t agree with baby baptism but can fellowship with a true Christian who believes it, as long as we agree in the essentials of the Bible.

This is the same with going to church, we are commanded to go – but not if it’s a heretical false church (end times views are not a deal breaker, but believing in works salvation for me is for example).

Anyway, just thought I’d chip in and hope you are blessed in the Lord! 🙏

    • Just to clarify one of the points made in this video.
      Denomination means division.
Denomination is, “a sect, class, or division” and a sect is, “a party dissenting from an established or parent church; a denomination.”
      Scripture states
      1 Corinthians 1:10-17
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

When you see Christians arguing on and offline, it will usually be because they have different beliefs due to being from different denominations.
Denominations DIVIDE the body of Christ.
People assign themselves to denominations usually through water baptisms.

Now, I’m not discouraging people from having fellowship with other believers. There is absolutely no reason why believers cannot congregate with other believers, One of the reasons that many believers do NOT congregate with others is because they have been segregated by a denomination.

      Take Jehovah Witnesses for example.

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe all other religions are part of “Babylon the Great”, a “world empire of false religion” under the control of Satan. Consequently, they refuse all ecumenical relations with other religious denominations.

So you will find its not me who is discouraging it, it is the Denominations, and as I said, its all about creating division.

Of course I would encourage people to congregate with other believers, but that is difficult to do and a limited possibility BECAUSE of all the different denominations.

      • Hi Hugo, thanks for your response! I’m not suggesting you are discouraging anyone just to be clear, not at all. I think it’s just wise to consider you may have denominational viewers and how to approach these things.

Ultimately, a denomination is a bunch of believers who broadly agree on the same things in the Bible. And most genuine Christians are denominational in good faith and genuinely believe their denomination is correct.

And some denominations will have exactly the same view of water baptism as another, but differ on lots of other different things (loads of baptist denominations for example).

I’m in a lot of Christian chats and I’ve seen both that denominations can cause division for sure, I’ve seen it first hand. But I’ve also seen different denominations truly uniting in Christ, in the gospel and not arguing over non essentials.

That’s my key point, while a denomination is a group of people with the same beliefs, so a sect / division as you may. But it doesn’t mean it will cause division in a sense that people are arguing / separating from each other.

For instance, my denominational church doesn’t do that and accepts other denominations and non denomination alike, as long as we are united in the essentials. And I don’t align with everything my church teaches, but do on most things.

We see this in Romans 14:1-2 with weaker brothers or Romans 14:5-6 with those who esteem one day higher than another. Different views, but we shouldn’t divide.

Even with non denomination believers, one might have drastically different views from another. And divide too, I’ve seen both of those plenty of times for non denoms. So, not trying to discourage you here – just giving you advice and nuance from experience!

        Lord bless 🙏

      • Hi Hugo, I would really appreciate your opinion on this: take an adult , who is severely autistic
and mentally disabled who does not have the intellectual capacity to have conceptual thought regarding people or circumstances. So for example: you can’t ‘tell’ them about God/Jesus etc as they cannot understand language. They may be able to repeat words after you (echoalia), but won’t understand what they’re saying. They don’t ‘sin’ as such as they have the mental age of say, a 24 month old. Also they don’t know HOW to lie, deceive etc. They are fully and completely dependent 24/7/365 on those that love them.
How are THEY able to be ‘born again’ and be with God when they die?
I asked this same question of the group ‘living waters’ specifically Ray Comfort. I had to ask many times before I got a reply; which was simply
“they cant”. You can imagine how I felt about that.
Now, personally I don’t believe Jesus will reject those in that situation
“suffer the little children to come unto me” ( or child minded adult. ). Didn’t Jesus also say that unless you are like a little child you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven”? The person I’m thinking of although 35 is exactly like a young child in mind and spirit. I would very much like to know your view on this. Thank you.

      • If one does not have capacity, cannot choose right from wrong,, or understand, then they are not subject to the same of those who do have the ability to choose.
God has told us through His prophets that we are free to choose between good and evil. We may choose liberty and eternal life by following Jesus Christ. We are also free to choose captivity and death by following Satan.
Unborn babies, the handicapped etc are innocent. They cannot choose. Innocence is the absence of the guilt of disloyalty to God.
They cannot be disloyal to God if they don’t have the capacity to understand the gospel. Because they can’t choose to do good or bad they then therefore are not held accountable.

“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19 14

Also I believe this accounts for Children/young adults as well, as you have to reach a certain amount of maturity, a certain amount of making mistakes, a certain amount of understanding and living before you can receive (baptism of the holy spirit/Circumcision of the heart.

        Note leviticus 19 23
“And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.”

Which tells you it takes a certain amount of time for the fruit from trees to become ‘circumsised’ and to not eat from the tree until then, as the fruit would be uncircumsised.
So its telling you that the tree and the fruit it is producing has to mature before it is circumsised, this happens automatically because the fruit does not have free will, so automatically receives circumcision, which is the same as circumcision of the heart/baptism of the holy spirit. If a person lacks capacity as mentioned above it is the same.

  7. If you are a free-thinker and you have some kind of direct contact with the Universe (or “God”, if you like), then why do you need a middle-man to pass on his word to you? The phrase “send three and fourpence, we’re going to a dance” springs to mind. Each to their own though, but it’s the one thing we have to work out for ourselves in the end.

  9. Great summary, thank you.
This is a topic that many have been harrassing me after I .. well, got the Spirit, and committed myself to God through Jesus. But the Holy Spirit stricly forbade me never to join any congregation. My occult backround (where I was driven cause I confused catholicism in actual christianity) compelled me to leave the lutheran church a long time ago.
After I was reborn the order not to join any church caused me grave sorrow from time to time ("am I not good enough to mix with other lambs?" although I knew Father had accepted me), and much confusement, but I obeyed cause I knew Father, Son and the Spirit were with me and a bit later with my husband too, so, I obeyed. And just enjoyed timely random meetings with people who were also seeking the wisdom of God.
I talked with an elderly tough-cookie priest about this ban a few years ago and he laughed, calmed me down and said that Jesus wasn't a christian, He only asked to follow Him… 😀
Later, the church in it's own heresy caused my husband to leave it too (long overdue).
And with these pointers in this video, I have more confidence just to laugh at this whole artificial, enslaving, ritual-obsessive blaming contest and simply say: "end of discussion". Thanks!!!

  10. I have not long become “born again” and have started reading the bible… I really do think that this subject, and many other confusions in scripture could be solved with the bible being easier to understand… Why has it been written in riddles?…(I reckon millions of people over the years have put it down because they struggle with the wording).

    • Ah Karl, don’t give up, maybe God is testing your perseverance! I felt just like you when I first started to read it. I’m not the brightest pebble on the beach, and if I’m honest I considered it to be daunting and a bit of a chore! However, now, I can honestly say that I love reading it and discovering all about God and how his mind works. I now consider it to be a genuine pleasure! The more you persevere and read, the more addictive it becomes. You will discover that even some of the more mundane chapters have a significant purpose later on in reading, and it’s a great feeling when the penny finally drops on your original confusion! It really is the most powerful book ever written! Before reading, pray to God for the Holy Spirit (the author of the Bible) to give you guidance and understanding. He will lead you into all truth. If it helps, I read Genesis first, then went on to read the New Testament before continuing with the Old Testament. Good luck and Best wishes 🙏

  11. Hugo is talking about my Christian ✝️ walk here. Everywhere I went at the beginning felt slightly cult-ish so I went freelance and grew strong and rooted. I still went to fellowship groups, these are good. Fellowship is good but I always remembered Almighty God is the only teacher 🙏 ask Him about everything.

  12. Thank you Hugo for your swift response. I suppose I knew in my heart God would not reject people like this. But hearing ‘preachers’ always go on about people MUST
“believing and professing with their lips” alarmed me. I know God is fair and just, and loves those people as much as He loves mainstream people! I just wanted to know what some one who studies the bible thought. I wouldn’t ask a priest, as I don’t actually trust them, or their legitimacy. I do not attend any church anyway, as I see too much hypocrisy in people and that makes me uncomfortable and cross. I prefer to be guided as much as possible by the bible and the Holy Spirit. Thank you again.

  13. I for one have been considering this matter for few months now, but being very careful about it as a little misjudgement could end in being a false teacher or lacking understanding in the eyes of God and our Lord Jesus.
I did notice that Bible mentions that Jesus dint baptise anyone with water but the diciples did. so there is a symbolic or necessity of it.
Also Paul who for one suffered so much for the churches and for the gospel and doctrine of Jesus Christ says he only baptised handful of people, but urges the churches ( gathering of people in the name of Jesus Christ) to be holy and to be careful from being falling from grace but not stressing on baptism of water.
But the Eunuch asks Phillip what stops him from taking baptism in the water but what is striking is that his emergence from the water is not walking out of water after a dip. But many thing are done on earth as shadow of the heavenly.
Also there are mentions of other Baptisms where the believers say they didnt know about the baptism of the holy spirit which they had when the disciple laid his hands on them and they spake it tounges.
I understood it this way for now that, when a student has finished their term in the university, the passing out ceremony is as a baptism which officially declares the student as recognised by the institution and part of it and the institution recognises them as their own and achieved it by fullfilling the requirements and the protocols to an accepted standards. And also the student for their life time can use the name of institution for their source of qualification.
There are also other examples for eg.God asked Abraham to circumcise all males including the ones bought for money and any dwelling with them, so that they all are recognized as one and when God blesses they are all part takers of Abraham’s blessings.
But totally agree that unless born again by the Spirit of God we are dead and thats the reference mostly overlook or omitted.
But the biblical baptism of water is with full understanding and knowledge of the act. Definately not infant state.
I would point out that baptism is a word suddenly arises in the new testament but given John the baptiste performing it even the hardcore Jews of that time didnt see it as a new concept. Which means it was a known thing or practise in that community but possibly known differently or had a different term for it. Similiarly the word Church, which these days in peoples mind is a building instead a gathering or 2 or more individuals.

    • What do you think Jesus means by water in regards to John 4 14
“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
Water is a symbol of the holy spirit, of the teachings of Jesus, which is why if you follow Jesus you will never thirst. He’s not talking about literal water.
So when you look at verses like Acts 10 47 and acts 8 and others with that in mind you can see how much of this is spiritual language.,

  14. ok so in the idea of division, baptism shows a division from being a worldly person to a godly one. buried in/raised in Christ. its the extrnal expression of the inward change by believeing in Jesus. sort of like communion. it shows that you will drink the cup Jesus drank and you are in fellowship with Him and your fellow believers. do this in memory of ME until I return…etc… the only two rituals Christ wants us to do. at least it’s how my ‘denomination’ believes and preaches. i go to a bible church. so anyway i like the divisions because that way i know who i am dealing with. like when i am with like minded people i can just relax and groove on the vibe and get recharged. when i am with people who don’t agree with me i know that i am a missionary and to be wise as a serpant and harmless as a dove as i seek to convert them for the Lord.
