The editor, Brian Shilhavy, has a very similar message to Hugo’s, but I listen to Brian because he also speaks common sense. He runs his site for healthy food, and has had to fight government bodies etc just to stay in business. He has a religious outlook, but I’m afraid that also bounces off me! But I will say Job is supposedly written around 486-465 BC. But the events are supposedly 1000-2000BC. I lean toward an older date. (It is the oldest book in the Bible.) The events are probably after the flood? Maybe, I don’t know, he seems to have a lot of “stuff.” Not being a king or anything. But only has 10 children, so probably not. Anyway…
1:1 “that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.” 2:3 “The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”
And I won’t quote it. Because it’s the whole book. God is clearly more pleased with Job, than his friend’s or their advice.

that is a good question and one that I fought with myself for many, many years.
I finally came to the conclusion that there is clearly much evil and deception in this world so there MUST also be good and loving God and then I found that the Bible was the only religious text that showed a good and loving God who cares about us (that is once I finally started to understand the Bible). IF the Bible is a deception being used to shut us down, I would rather believe in the good and loving God and take the consequences then engage with the evil and “fight back”.
Of course we could never really fight back anyhow. Maybe I am just apathetic but I know these evil people have more money that the rest of mankind combined and own all the worldly resources so HOW could we fight back if we even wanted to?

But I will say Job is supposedly written around 486-465 BC. But the events are supposedly 1000-2000BC. I lean toward an older date. (It is the oldest book in the Bible.) The events are probably after the flood? Maybe, I don’t know, he seems to have a lot of “stuff.” Not being a king or anything. But only has 10 children, so probably not. Anyway…
1:1 “that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.” 2:3 “The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”
And I won’t quote it. Because it’s the whole book. God is clearly more pleased with Job, than his friend’s or their advice.

It’s good to examine and have slightly different views. I’ve learned a lot personally from Catholics, in certain areas. The priest was kind, The message/service was divine, and when we shook hands as everyone left, I only felt compassion and love coming from him.
