I agree with your assessment 100%. This con comes up every generation since I was born in the 1950’s, and the shroud has been on display dating back to the 1300’s. The shroud has been debunked so many times it’s amazing to me they can still pull this off. But it works. Every generation seems to fall for this con. It is an egregor that is then sacrificed. Some energy harvesting for sure. Following the pantomime analogy … are people that clueless that they believe must sidestepping into politics and commenting uk politics is organic. And cambell suddenly shifting from medical science to religious artifacts is a logical progression. It is laughable. It is like the pantomime character goes off atage and comes back on in a different outfit but forgot to change the makeup. It is obviously illfitting and stands out like a sore thumb.
Yes that’s exactly what they do. Get people to follow them (celebs , politicians, musicians) being “good” and “wholesome” then WHAM THEY GO DARK! It just proves they were corrupt ALL ALONG!

All the hope and love, the life energy is focused on a false idol, which, judging by its fruits, its deeds, does not even deserve to be trusted, let alone revered, and then the idol is destroyed before the eyes of the cultists. A very old technique, probably older than the Roman one. Elaborate military torture experiments are as old as time.
