Hey Hugo, I think you need to get things into perspective. Decades long communism in Eastern Europe did not supress Christian spirit. Pope with his regular trips to Poland was quite helpful even if he is depicted with one eye covered ;). The only nation that I know of, that remained secular were the Czechs, but they experienced softer version of communism. Churches were closed but after the communism collapse, some people chose not to revive their faith. This is a common knowledge, this may not correspond with one’s individual experience though. The more oppression there is, the more resistant the masses are. Been there, seen that…
My concern is that these days people turn their back on churches, especially Catholic one, as it is perceived as rotten to the core… The key for Christian is to congregate and worship together, as strength comes from the unity, so better choose your church, you want to affiliate with, folks. Hey Hugo, I think you need to get things into perspective. Decades long communism in Eastern Europe did not supress Christian spirit. Pope with his regular trips to Poland was quite helpful even if he is depicted with one eye covered ;). The only nation that I know of, that remained secular were the Czechs, but they experienced softer version of communism. Churches were closed but after the communism collapse, some people chose not to revive their faith. This is a common knowledge, this may not correspond with one’s individual experience though. The more oppression there is, the more resistant the masses are. Been there, seen that…
My concern is that these days people turn their back on churches, especially Catholic one, as it is perceived as rotten to the core… The key for Christian is to congregate and worship together, as strength comes from the unity, so better choose your church, you want to affiliate with, folks.
