Slowly withdrawing my business from this mega corporate store chain – but when I do have to, I usually shop with loose change or notes – so my patronage here must really frustrate some of those shop workers… They seem to have a distain for my presence every time I inconvenience them to actually have to conduct a HUMAN transaction when I queue for service at face-to-face point. 😬
Of which is slowly becoming obsolete, often only manned by one member of staff. The majority of till checkouts (in the mega size store) are also unused, 2 / 7 ratio for human till checkout, versus the no-cash self serves, 6 / 6… Hmm, they couldn’t just add more cash checkouts? And they’re saying unemployment is a problem, we know why though…
What’s more, these mega store chains are like a surveillance wet dream utopia – state of the art recognition systems and Consumer Behaviour analytics, I’m sure they’re collecting all that juicy data for “security” purposes, haha! 😆

At our local Tesco I think there’s only two or three manned check outs that take cash, all the rest are either self-service points or card only check outs, so we can all see where this is going in Tescos. My good lady and I are currently phasing out shopping in Tesco completely.

This was about a year before the plandemic around 2017 they started putting in more self service checkouts, and employing less staff. 2020 when the plandemic hit, we were told not to except cash, and its card only. Our whole family always use cash. Where I live we have a small delicatessen and they have a sign up ‘ card only’ so I refuse to shop there as I do with any ‘card only’ shop. My husband and I do not have smart phones either.
This APP only Tesco store should be avoided to show how we feel about this. Once this starts more shops will follow, big brother watching and eventually controlling us.
We used Tesco for years, when we lived in a close proximity. When we moved out, approx. 10 years ago we stopped shopping there. Last time I was at tescos during ‘pandemic’, the staff wore the tops: ‘We are all in the same boat’ and they herded shoppers like the cattle. This was a last time, I went there. I still use supermarkets, though, along with the corner shops.
Regarding rolling the beast mark, I think, we’ll be fine, Hugo. There are plenty of corner shops: Asian, Eastern-European, even in our little town. They are keen on using cash. I bet there will be more of them in the cities. The fruit and vegs look and taste nicer than the supermarkets ones. if you eat meat, buy from your local farmer.

And Hugo, this is much like the story you did on the guy who tried to buy a sandwich from Tesco earlier this month. Here’s a funny story that kind of hilights this. I was chatting with my daughter earlier and she told me on her way home from shopping yesterday she had to stop at a zebra crossing as two ‘delivery robots’ were crossing. I genuinely thought she was joking as I’d never even heard of them! She said it was like a scene from a comedy movie , as one bumped into the other, then attempted to go around it. I think it took them about five minutes to cross the road in the end !

Slowly withdrawing my business from this mega corporate store chain – but when I do have to, I usually shop with loose change or notes – so my patronage here must really frustrate some of those shop workers… They seem to have a distain for my presence every time I inconvenience them to actually have to conduct a HUMAN transaction when I queue for service at face-to-face point. 😬
Of which is slowly becoming obsolete, often only manned by one member of staff. The majority of till checkouts (in the mega size store) are also unused, 2 / 7 ratio for human till checkout, versus the no-cash self serves, 6 / 6… Hmm, they couldn’t just add more cash checkouts? And they’re saying unemployment is a problem, we know why though…
What’s more, these mega store chains are like a surveillance wet dream utopia – state of the art recognition systems and Consumer Behaviour analytics, I’m sure they’re collecting all that juicy data for “security” purposes, haha! 😆

At our local Tesco I think there’s only two or three manned check outs that take cash, all the rest are either self-service points or card only check outs, so we can all see where this is going in Tescos. My good lady and I are currently phasing out shopping in Tesco completely.

This was about a year before the plandemic around 2017 they started putting in more self service checkouts, and employing less staff. 2020 when the plandemic hit, we were told not to except cash, and its card only. We used Tesco for years, when we lived in a close proximity. When we moved out, approx. 10 years ago we stopped shopping there. Last time I was at tescos during ‘pandemic’, the staff wore the tops: ‘We are all in the same boat’ and they herded shoppers like the cattle. This was a last time, I went there. I still use supermarkets, though, along with the corner shops.
Regarding rolling the beast mark, I think, we’ll be fine, Hugo. There are plenty of corner shops: Asian, Eastern-European, even in our little town. They are keen on using cash. I bet there will be more of them in the cities. The fruit and vegs look and taste nicer than the supermarkets ones. if you eat meat, buy from your local farmer.

I genuinely thought she was joking as I’d never even heard of them! She said it was like a scene from a comedy movie , as one bumped into the other, then attempted to go around it. I think it took them about five minutes to cross the road in the end !

Sassenach, what you’ve said resonates with me a lot :). There’s so much fear and paranoia on both sides. I know people who don’t even have a current account and they manage their lives quite well financially and they are not swept by MSM narrative. They have seen a lot, they have a stoical approach. The new system targets young generations, though. They have enough to worry about living in social media/ unsocial reality, but depressive banging on about not owning anything can clip their wings.

I do not know what country you live in, but in the USA, under the uniform commercial code, if you offer to pay for goods or services in the government approved currency and that offer is not accepted, you can keep the goods and services. No business has the authority to legally refuse to accept the approved currency!
