I think it stands to reason that the universe revolves around a stationary earth, and I think the Bible gives credence to it. Surely, science has never been able to prove otherwise. There’s little in modern cosmology that makes a lick of sense and what part of it isn’t based on the theoretical? If a photon emitted from a distant star millions of light years away has the endurance to reach our eyes, with the billions of galaxies that are supposedly contained in our universe each containing billions of stars, why wouldn’t the night sky be as bright as day?
It’s all quite ridiculous but what bothers me most is the arrogance of so many who berate those that see our universe in different terms. For those of us who believe that God created the earth and through His Son died, resurrected, and ascended back to heaven why is it such a stretch to believe that we could possibly live under a dome or on an earth which does not conform to a sphere? I don’t see the problem between Christianity and the secular cultures of individual nations, regions, towns or villages. I studied quantum mechanics (yes, PhD and all), and I can assure you that no one has proven any of what you believe. The double-slit experiment is badly misinterpreted but at worst is only used to claim that observation is needed to determine a particle’s state at any given moment (and those oh-so-hubristic physicists think that only they qualify as ‘observers’); and not even Bohr or his ilk ever tried claiming that all matter is in fact only photons. Nothing in quantum mech has been proven, anyway, because the quantum realm is too small for direct experimentation.
Maybe you’re thinking you understand string theory – which nobody understands, because it is abstruse mathematics having nothing to do with the physical universe. If so, I’d recommend reading ‘Not Even Wrong’ by Peter Woit, or (if you dislike math) at least read *The Trouble With Physics’ by Lee Smolin.

I think it stands to reason that the universe revolves around a stationary earth, and I think the Bible gives credence to it. Surely, science has never been able to prove otherwise. There’s little in modern cosmology that makes a lick of sense and what part of it isn’t based on the theoretical? If a photon emitted from a distant star millions of light years away has the endurance to reach our eyes, with the billions of galaxies that are supposedly contained in our universe each containing billions of stars, why wouldn’t the night sky be as bright as day?
It’s all quite ridiculous but what bothers me most is the arrogance of so many who berate those that see our universe in different terms. For those of us who believe that God created the earth and through His Son died, resurrected, and ascended back to heaven why is it such a stretch to believe that we could possibly live under a dome or on an earth which does not conform to a sphere? The only other person who i recall regularly using the term gobbledygook was my grandfather. He was a devote Christian and was very vocal in his opposition to modern scientific theory. I don’t see the problem between Christianity and the secular cultures of individual nations, regions, towns or villages. I studied quantum mechanics (yes, PhD and all), and I can assure you that no one has proven any of what you believe. The double-slit experiment is badly misinterpreted but at worst is only used to claim that observation is needed to determine a particle’s state at any given moment (and those oh-so-hubristic physicists think that only they qualify as ‘observers’); and not even Bohr or his ilk ever tried claiming that all matter is in fact only photons. Nothing in quantum mech has been proven, anyway, because the quantum realm is too small for direct experimentation.
Maybe you’re thinking you understand string theory – which nobody understands, because it is abstruse mathematics having nothing to do with the physical universe. If so, I’d recommend reading ‘Not Even Wrong’ by Peter Woit, or (if you dislike math) at least read *The Trouble With Physics’ by Lee Smolin.

So it’s been taken as a principle of faith that we can attempt to understand things we cannot (yet) directly observe, like other dimensions, because we have reason to think that the rules which work on earth right now will work in far distant places, and even in far distant times in the future, and would have worked in the far distant past.
Although it turns out that the world and universe are inherently weird and difficult to understand, mathematics is a language that can be used to help make, and test these predictions of faith, even if it is really difficult to visualise what is going on in the real world.
Many people following HugoTalks posts are people of faith, believe in Jesus and other worldly realms. If they do, they wouldn’t be surprised that people like NdGT are trying to fathom all that as well. It may be that we can’t understand everything, but we should try. The Bible says, Proverbs 25:2, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” Maybe, our human brains aren’t that puny after all.
But ideas – models, theories, whatever – must always be tested and challenged. That is true science.

We do have amazing brains but they are still far inferior to Gods. We have a spirit and soul that has a conscious. That amazing in itself The brain is in the physical.
