I have liked watching David Attenborough wildlife programmes but this throws a different light on things. Why should he be saying we need to depopulate. Most people don’t have big families now like they used to anyway.
We have always had climate change. There must be lots of other things contributing to it. What about all these shops what have their heating on with the doors wide open. What about stopping clothes being made from polyester and use only natural fibres etc. I am making a big effort to buy only cotton, linen, wool or other natural fibres in clothes now. I always read the labels. Every time polyester is washed these micro things go into the water and sea and harm wildlife.
What a load of rubbish these awards are and I wonder when they were made did they harm the environment, wonder what they are made of.

Actually, good man made fibres are not that bad. You can use a lot of recycled material for them, like all the empty plastic containers floating in the waters. Modern, high end synthetic fibres are used in sportswear/ outerwear. They are now given properties similar to natural fibres. Also easier to dry, which saves energy.
Problem is the extra cheap stuff that is blended with natural fibres to make fabrics cheaper.
Cotton farming depends heavily on artificial irrigation as it is mostly done in dry areas. The cotton is then shipped around the world to be processed in the cheapest places. That’s why T-shirts cost so little. Also contributes to water pollution because of the cost cutting. Not to mention the horrible working conditions.
Btw, ever since I moved away from commercial detergents (and shower gels) to natural soaps I have no more skin irritations, I don’t stink as much during the 10 hot days here in Scotland.

In all fairness I do think we need to reduce the population. But the western countries are not the main culprits of this. People should be taxed less if they have less children etc. Other incentives need to be in place too, or offer people money for recycling like in Germany.
Cost for recycling is put on products. Visible by that little arrow in a ying/ yang style. That includes pretty much everything in a sort of carton, can, plastic container/ bag.
Same goes for plastic bottles where it’s between 10 and 20 €-Cents per bottle, which you pay when you buy it and you’ll get it back when you put the bottle into the crushers in or close to the shops. So, technically, you are not getting extra money. Some poorer pensioners, however, go through the public garbage bins to find soda cans and plastic bottles to “earn” a bit of money. So much for “richest” country in Europe….
