Basically from what ive seen discussed on other media posts is that the next greek letter they should have used is XI, which is part of the chinese leaders name and they didnt want to offend him, and so jumped a letter and use Omicron instead.
Omicron also refers to an actual star system and has also been used in the adult cartoon ‘Futurama’. Though I somewhat doubt that is too related.
Omicron Persei also appears in the game ‘Stellaris’, which may be simply a ‘Futurama’ or star system reference. However a brief look into the game, and they also feature galactic companies establishing authoritarian type control, and a utopia that sounds a bit similar to some of the WEF goals among other things.
