  1. I got a few misleading and coercive letters to install the smartmeter, I called and resufed and now 2 years later I still have my analoge meter. However, I own my house, so they can’t do nothing. But my neighbours are renting it and they all got smartmeters installed. As a renter, there is not that much you can do, really depends of the goodwill of your landlord.

    • I am renting and in control of the energy supply and have refused smart meter installation requests many many times. It all depends on who pays the energy bills.

  2. Got this from irish ESB…I’ll be monitoring my old meter… To see if anyone comes near it 😂

    Thank you for your email.

According to our records your objection has already been noted.

We confirm your MPRN is not now included in our current meter replacement plan. ESB Networks will inform your electricity supply company of your preference.

We would, however, like to bring to your attention that you will require a smart meter if you wish to avail of smart services (time-of-use tariffs or the electrification of heat & transport) when they become available from your energy supply company from early 2021 or, to take part in any future micro-generation scheme launched by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications. Further, our replacement meter stock is now comprised of smart meters, so please be aware that if your current meter: develops a fault, or you wish to relocate it, or if for any other reason a new meter is required then a smart meter will be installed.

  3. They fitted a gas smart meter without my permission because my traditional meter had broken and I could not get it removed. The only good thing is it’s outside
