I detest all the covid rules but although the instruction to exhale under water sounds crazy it isn’t for competent swimmers. Good swimmers will have their head under water to be more stream line and exhale under water and then lift the head out of water to take a breath. I doubt many casual swimmers do this, I know I can’t.
You’re right. Although the pools have some absolutely ridiculous rules, the breathing out under water is normal for peeps that can swim. Not being able to use the changing rooms before swimming only after, no shampoo in the showers and not being able to overtake in a lane is all rubbish nonsense though.

Half my family are Covid converts and it does my head in how thick some have become. They think I need to educate myself and behave…but I swear I’m only moments away from loosing it at them.

Hi Hugo, I’m a swimmer myself. Although this may sound ridiculous, aquatic breathing whilst swimming, you always exhale under water for freestyle and breast stroke. My local pool states no over taking but I ignore that and so do most of the established swimmers. If someone takes their discipline seriously and you have casual swimmers in the fast lanes then that rule goes out the window and the lifeguards don’t implement it for that reason. This is NOT applicable to all people. This will cause great anxiety and stress to those whom do not understand your rules that you are stating and the above rules of the ridiculous. To bully others that are not experienced swimmers, into ” fast, slow, medium blah blah lanes” is a low thing to do, or preach. Swimming is for all and should be fun, a sense of freedom and exercise for anyone in their own time and manner, without made up pressures. Let’s not be selective in our manner with that ego, instead, set an example and have compassion for all swimmers, non swimmers, etc, etc. We want to encourage people to exercise and tell those bullies to “Fuck off and or, go home”. I used to swim 6.5 miles per week and I’d exhale under water when doing front crawl! Hurrah for the no back stroke rule – it’s pretty dim to do back stroke in a crowded pool – mind, Covid regs will the pools be crowded? I nearly got wiped out by some plonker doing back stroke in a crowded pool! Maintaining social distancing is difficult when swimming! Bring your own drinking water – who else’s water were they thinking one was going to drink? It’s not advisable to drink the pool water with all that pee in it! lol!

I think a good strategy for something like this would be to find out which swimming baths it is and email them. Don’t swear or be rude. Just mock the insanity of it. Something like: “Am I permitted to break wind under water? If not and I do so by accident, will a fine be imposed? If I start drowning am I permitted to try to save my own life?” Have fun and waste their time. Make them look like the pathetic non-entities they are.
The whole thing is a mockery against us. So let us mock them. We’re a lot funnier and more creative than they are.

UK, I’ve heard they have to empty and refill the pool water every other day till September, so pool shut until then at my gym, madness pretty sure chlorine would kill anything like 100% sure.
300% increase in deaths today vs yesterday, from 1 to 4 PANIC at that rate we are all dead in 18days, OMG LOCKDOWN.
3 weeks after shops opened, slight very slight bump in hospital admissions 68 to 92, with highs near 4000 so nothing, still got restrictions because ??
Local sandwhich shop, big sign about mask rules ” If you don’t wear a mask, we will assume your exempted, and we aren’t allowed to ask for proof ” with a BIG Smilely Fuck you face under it and nobody wears masks 🙂
